|Urban Flight Chapter Chronology|
The Boulevard is the first chapter of the custom campaign Urban Flight. The Survivors start off on the balcony of The Vannah restaurant seeing the city on fire and being destroyed by The Infection. They decide to head out to the streets and make their way down the street towards a Gnome Depot. Once on the boulevard, they must navigate through the mazes of police barricades, debris, and missing pieces of road to get to the hardware store. Once past the hardware store, they continue through the city's sewer system and head back up to the quarantined area of the streets and eventually find a building in which to take refuge...

All campaign walkthroughs are done on Normal difficulty in single player, and are meant to give tips on what to do and generally point out things that might otherwise be missed.
There are, of course, a few key things to always remember:
- Stop, look, and listen.
- This cannot be stressed enough. Left 4 Dead is supposed to be a cooperative game. Communicate with your teammates, if you're playing with others, or if you're by yourself with the AI, point out things they might otherwise miss. In all cases, watch out for each other and take care of each other. You are not going to survive the zombie apocalypse by yourself.
- Be ready for anything.
- Don't panic.
Watch out for Smokers on the rooftops, they can separate your team.
The Survivors start off on the balcony of The Vannah restaurant only armed with pistols and First Aid kits. Enter the darken dinning room while watching out for infected and make your way to the bar. There is a baseball bat behind the counter and a Molotov on the shelf blending in with the other drinks. There is also the door next to the bar, which may at times contain additional supplies or more infected inside. Make your way downstairs to the main dinning room and clear the room out of infected. Watch out for the Special Infected as the building is dark, making it difficult to see them. You can go down the hall and check the bathrooms for supplies or zombies; otherwise, you can exit the restaurant via two ways: one is through the kitchen loading dock or the front main entrance; The Director will block one of these exits, forcing the other option.
If you exit through the loading dock, check the back alleys for some supplies as you may find additional First Aid kits and Pills lying around. Make your way towards the main street. The right side of the street is blocked by a fuel tanker truck therefore leaving the only option to head left past the police car. Continue making your way down the street while watching for Special Infected and Smokers on the balconies of other buildings, you'll come to a small intersection where you'll see a Solar Message Sign saying to head towards the Main Street Bridge (this will be seen later in the campaign). Continue on down the street using the right side of the boulevard since the left is blocked by a cement truck.
Past the buildings, you may want to check inside the bookstore as again, more weapons and supplies may be inside. You'll come to a major intersection with stoplights and buses blocking the street and hear a large explosion coming from the other side of the barrier; however, this does not trigger a Crescendo Event. With the streets all blocked, the only way for the survivors to continue on is to now go up the blocked lane towards The Gnome Depot. Enter The Gnome Depot and you will find some weapons on the cashier tills. The warehouse store is also dimly lit and hard to see down each of the aisles, so it's best to travel together rather than separately. Head towards the back of the store and exit onto the loading dock area. Kill the infected and check the containers for possible supplies. You'll be forced to jump down into the sewer canal drainage system since the roads are again blocked. As you jump down, you'll see other survivors driving by seeking a way out of the city. Follow the canals until you come to a ladder access point where the group can climb back up onto the street level.
Shoot the infected and check the trucks for possibly more supplies in the back. Continue up the street or sidewalk and head to the Jazz Club where more weapons and supplies can be found. There is a jukebox inside, and if you wish to face more zombies, just play the song to summon the horde. Exit the club and keep following the street past the Poppy Field Florists store where you will see the large destroyed fuel tanker and fire where the explosion that was heard earlier came from. Head left down a side street next to the Peach Pit café finding more weapons inside the café and continue down the street towards the car dealership.
Exit the car dealership yard and continue back onto the boulevard; the cars are not alarmed, so taking out the infected should be a lot easier then the survivors watching where they have to shoot. Follow the street while watching for infected and Special Infected; be aware that a Witch may be somewhere on the streets so watching out where you walk and take some precaution when shooting on the streets. Their may be a First Aid kit or defibrillator inside the ambulance which may help. Once ready, head back down towards the building on the left and enter the basement saferoom and prepare to head up to The Rooftops.
- The Vannah is a restaurant in this custom campaign, not a hotel, like in Dead Center
- The Gnome Depot is based off the real life The Home Depot
