The Swamp is the second chapter of the campaign Swamp Fever in Left 4 Dead 2. It begins in a train underpass fashioned into a safe room for the first chapter. The Survivors temporarily touch ground, but then move on to planks resting over the water. Once the planks end, the group finds the ruins of a long abandoned boat house and a dock, which happens to be loaded with various supplies. Nearby, there is a plume of smoke above the trees. The path leads into a clearing with a crashed plane. On the way to the plane the survivors can find a parachutist, dead, stuck in the trees and occasionally find T2 weaponry near the dead parachutist. Fortunately, the aircraft is filled with supplies. The crash has slowed the Survivors' progress, however, and they must open the emergency exit to proceed—which, of course, triggers a Crescendo Event. Once they have weathered the hordes of the Infected, the group makes their way through some ravaged old shacks and into the next safe house.

	WING AND A PRAYER	(30G)
	Defend yourself at the crashed airliner without taking damage. To do this achievement, start in Swamp Fever chapter 2, Swamp. Grab an automatic weapon from the safehouse. Next, go through the level, make sure you pick up either a pipe bomb or a bile bomb along the way. When you get to the crashed aircraft, look in the area where the seats are that comes before the door the triggers the horde event. There is one seat missing at the very first row here. Open the door, then run and crouch in this area where the seat would be, with your automatic weapon. This is an incredibly easy achievement when you are playing with 3 bots and have the difficulty setting on easy. The bots will take down anyone coming in through the door, so you only have to cover the common infected coming in from behind. The bots will still get most of these, but you still occasionally need to open fire with your automatic weapon, or throw a pipe bomb or bile bomb. It is not recommended that you use a melee weapon to defend yourself for this achievement. On the Xbox 360 version, many people had problems with the achievement unlocking in offline single player mode. If this is the case with you, the achievement can be done in online campaign mode, still with 3 bots.

• The plane is similar to the ones in Metro International Airport, implying a relation to the airline.
• Witches can spawn within the swamp completely submerged in water. Survivors can be easily attacked if they're not paying attention.
• It should be noted that if a Survivor is incapacitated under water, they will also take damage after about 5 seconds, due to the lack of air, causing them to die faster than normal.
• Just before reaching the Crashed Airliner you can find a dead body of a Soldier that has parachuted from a plane. He has either a couple of weapons stuck on him and he will have a pipe bomb or a molotov on his body.
• The fact that a soldier would be equipped with non-standard issue weapons (molotovs and pipebombs) might mean the military sees these weapons as a better weapon compared to their military counterparts.
