All campaign walkthroughs are done on Normal difficulty in single player, and are meant to give tips on what to do and generally point out things that might otherwise be missed.
There are, of course, a few key things to always remember:
- Stop, look, and listen.
- This cannot be stressed enough. Left 4 Dead is supposed to be a cooperative game. Communicate with your teammates, if you're playing with others, or if you're by yourself with the AI, point out things they might otherwise miss. In all cases, watch out for each other and take care of each other. You are not going to survive the zombie apocalypse by yourself.
- Be ready for anything.
- Don't panic.
The Survivors did survive the crash of the airplane. Now the Survivors have to make their way to heaven.
As survivors of a plane crash in a rural area, you and your three friends start the campaign close to where the accident occurred and begin by following a road that was recently occupied by city residents fleeing a zombie infestation.
This chapter's starting map approximates that found in the Dead Center campaign, but without Medkits. Players initially have access to only pistols and melee weapons but once the survivor are on the road, there is a either a Submachine Gun or Silenced Submachine Gun on the back of the car. If the player goes left on the road, the road will be blocked at the end of the street with two police cars. There should be a either Pump or Chrome Shotgun as well as a Molotov and a Bile bomb. Once you are armed, go back and keep following the tracks until the players have arrived at the bridge. Take caution as a Witch will spawn. In the middle of the way, there is an ambulance which contains a Pipe bomb, Pain pills and Adrenaline shots. At the area where a fence is located, a Tank may spawn. Don't worry as there it is a big open space and most cars are too big to be punched by the Tank. If you have a Molotov, you can set the Tank on fire.
At the end of the road, there is a collapsing bridge which triggers a Crescendo Event. There should be four first aid kits and some Tier 2 weapons and Shotguns. Players need go into a farm through a broken fence. Once players have proceeded, another Witch may spawn either at the entrance of the barn or in front of the house. Once you are at the end of the barn, there are wooden planks that appear to be blocking the survivor's path but you can shoot them. Proceed via abounded house and than exit via back of the house. Take note that it is another area where a Tank tends to spawn.
Now, once after you have departed the house, keep moving within the brushes. A Tank will often not spawn here and AI survivors can still clearly see through the shrubbery, thus use this advantage to kill all infected but be careful for Witches as they will often spawn in the brushes. Keep moving and you will eventually see a Safe room. Close the door and the next chapter RiverMotel will load.
During this journey, players will face the Riot Infected.
- As the Infected, attack the Survivors at the beginning of the map when they lack primary weapons.
- Unlike most other maps, more than one Witch may spawn. Normally, they can spawn up to 3 in a map.
